Videography Assistant (Student Assistant 4) Position Summary:University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources is seeking a resourceful, motivated and media-savvy college student who is enthusiastic about visual storytelling and skilled in using videography.Working within UC ANR’s Strategic Communications unit, the Videography Assistant supports the Senior Videographer in shooting, producing, and editing video content for distribution across ANR’s media platforms & associated accounts.The Videography Assistant also maintains and manages inventory related to sound and video recording, supports the UC ANR YouTube channel, and maintains and manages stored audio/video assets.The Videography Assistant will be guided by the Senior Videographer in following best practices for digital content production. Field production will involve accompanying the Senior Videographer on shoots to assist with cinematography, lighting, and audio recording tasks. This internship resides within the Office of Collections which encompasses Acquisitions, Archives, Offices of Collections Management, and Cataloging & Digitization. These teams work together to bring in new collections, handle, preserve and care for collections; transport and store collections; make collections accessible through records management, cataloging, and digitization; manage collections rights and reproductions; and implement archive processing and access. Office of Collections staff work closely with Office of Curatorial Affairs staff to identify and manage possible acquisitions and loans. The position works under the supervision of the Operations Section Manager to assist in planning, organizing, and evaluating all Quinault Department of Fisheries Enhancement program activities. The Hatchery Specialist acts as the contracting officer for all contracts related to hatchery facility development, maintenance, and evaluation. This role also oversees data collection and organization related to all aspects of the enhancement program operations. Record keeping and archiving will be coordinated with the Operations Section Manager in accordance with departmental QA/QC policies and data archiving procedures. Specific authorities are delegated to the Hatchery Specialist by the Operations Section Manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Contributes technical expertise to long range work plans and efforts of the enhancement program to support the Department’s broodstocking, egg acquisition and rearing, and tagging objectives. Monitors all aspects of fish husbandry and takes action as appropriate. Monitors fish health and takes action as appropriate based on established Departmental protocols and guidelines. Knowledge of data collection and analysis procedures associated with salmon hatchery management. Experience with project planning and oversight. Experience developing and monitoring contracts. Work in adverse weather conditions; occasionally lifting objects heavier than 50 pounds; operation of open outboard motor boats in rough weather and/or on moving streams. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science in Fisheries or related field, with coursework including fish husbandry and salmonid life history and development.
