History Interpretation InternDepartment: Education Reports to: Curator of Learning & Community EngagementBasic Purpose: History Interpretation Interns share the stories behind the Settlers House and Cappon House historic homes by conducting weekly public tours, helping our visitors make personal connections with the people and places of the past. This position also conducts historical research and develops interpretive tours for the Cappon and Settlers House sites.Responsibilities and Accountabilities Greet and interact with museum visitors in an open, friendly manner.Interpret historic events and facts for a wide range of audiences.Staff all operating hours at the historic Cappon and Settlers House sites, as well as additional office hours as assigned.Perform tours by appointment, assist visitors as a docent, and assist with public programs on occasion and/or when requested.Perform historic research using sources from archival documents, Internet databases, etc. Finish the inventory of the Museum’s Educational object collection located at the historic homes.Maintain a professional demeanor, including during training sessions and with other staff and volunteers.Participate in the Holland Museum Summer Intern Council. The Council will be guided by the Museum staff to design, research, and install an exhibition that will develop leadership and communication skills. Responsibilities include:Look for opportunities to address issues that require cross functional skills, creative problem solving, relationship building, and an understanding of the greater organizational strategy of the Museum.Meet with other interns over the course of the summer to develop sub teams and plans to address the project they have chosen.The Intern Council will report back to the museum staff to present the results of the exhibition at the end of the summer.Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, or a recent graduate with a BA/BS in a related field such as museum studies, public history, or history. Demonstrated experience performing historic research in an academic setting. Experience working in customer service is preferred. The Government Accountability Project is seeking an Education Associate. This individual will serve as both the partner of the Director of Education and her bridge to the Communications Department. Our Education Department works hand-in-glove with our Communications Department. To this end, the Education Associate will support the development and implementation of a broad range of public education initiatives that foster awareness of Government Accountability Project's work and the essential role whistleblowers play in promoting government and corporate accountability. Under the direction of Government Accountability Project.s Education Director, the Education Associate will support the Director's efforts to engage partners and allies across a wide range of stakeholder groups, including those in academia, private attorneys, NGOs, ethics professionals, whistleblowers, and others in collaborative efforts to advance Government Accountability Project's mission.Under the direction of the Education Director, engage in research, writing and materials development, the drafting of messaging/correspondence, and help with social media and other online communications. Overview. Resident Assistants (RAs) play an important role in shaping a thriving learning community at the Governor’s Institute on Health & Medicine, North (giv.org/institutes/health-medicine). RAs support high school aged students in the residential aspects of a weeklong academic enrichment program on Vermont State University’s Lyndon campus from July 6 through July 12, 2025. RAs must demonstrate maturity, initiative, professionalism, confidence, flexibility, enthusiasm and commitment. Setting & schedule. RAs are assigned to a suite in a campus residence hall. While expected to work with all the students at the Health & Medicine Institute, RAs will have closer contact and additional responsibilities with the students in their particular suite. RAs work in a team to lead activities in the evening and support staff during daytime program hours. The anticipated on-duty schedule for RAs is 5 PM to 9 AM, during which time the RA is the primary person responsible for their assigned students. Quiet hours are enforced from 11 PM to 7 AM, and RA responsibilities during this time are limited, shared, and on call. Daytime tasks are assigned daily and shared among the team with time allocated for extended breaks.Training. RAs will arrive on campus prior to the program’s start to participate in staff training on Saturday, July 5th. An additional, required pre-orientation will occur virtually with all staff to review policy and procedural information. RAs must provide proof of independent completion of the Vermont mandated reporter training online.Compensation. RAs earn $1,000 for the week.
