Application Deadline for the College of Health & Social Sciences Undergraduate Student Research and Creative Works Showcase

The College of Health and Social Sciences invites students to present their undergraduate research, scholarship and creative works at the third annual CHSS Undergraduate Showcase, to be held at HSS 204 on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. (check-in and set up from 10:30-11:30 a.m.).  

All CHSS undergraduate students, regardless of their research experience, are encouraged to enter their work. Student work from Fall 2024 or Spring 2025 is eligible and presentation formats will include posters, models, dress forms, interactive displays and other appropriate formats. Both individual and group projects from capstone/culminating experience courses, independent studies, or developed as class assignments are welcome.  Poster printing costs will be covered by the College.  Poster templates and examples can be found here.

Given the size of HSS 204, we will be limited to 25 projects. We will accept applications in the order that they are received until the showcase is full.

2025 LCA Undergraduate Research Showcase

From food security to exploring evolution through dance, our students explore a range of subjects, stemming from their many curiosities, interests and passions.

The LCA Undergraduate Research Showcase presents the research of undergraduates from SF State's College of Liberal & Creative Arts (LCA) and reflects the unique diversity of disciplines within the College ranging from the humanities to the social sciences, to the creative arts. We welcome and celebrate the research work of all students, regardless of discipline and research experience.

  • 11am-12pm: Poster session 1
  • 12pm-12:30pm: Lunch and prize raffle
  • 12:30pm-1:30pm: Poster session 2
  • 1:30pm-2:30pm: Prize raffle and Poster session 3

Deadline to submit to the College of Liberal and Creative Arts 2025 Showcase

This is an opportunity for students to interact with peers, faculty, and others in a collegial setting to share their work and celebrate their accomplishments this semester.

  • Student work can be presented in the form of a research poster, demonstration, live performance, or a screening of a short film. 
  • Session times are 11 – 12 p.m., 12:30 – 1:30 p.m., and 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
  • A research poster template is available for students who would like to present a research poster and need help getting started.

CoSE's Student Project Showcase 2025 is on Friday, May 2 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Student Life Events Center, Annex I

This annual event features a variety of exciting student projects, highlighting our faculty's commitment to providing SF State students with hands-on experience in the discovery of new knowledge. Join us to see an array of projects in Astronomy, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Geosciences, Geography, Environmental Studies, Math, Physics, and Psychology.

Deadline for submissions for the College of Science and Engineering Student Project Showcase

CoSE's Student Project Showcase 2025 is on Friday, May 2 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Student Life Events Center, Annex I

This annual event features a variety of exciting student projects, highlighting our faculty's commitment to providing SF State students with hands-on experience in the discovery of new knowledge. Join us to see an array of projects in Astronomy, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Geosciences, Geography, Environmental Studies, Math, Physics, and Psychology.

Registration is open!

Because of the growth of the Showcase and the space limitations, we can only accept a maximum of 200 projects for the 2025 event. Submissions will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025 or until we reach 200 project submissions (whichever comes first). After that point, registration will be closed. We advise you to submit your project well before the April 4 deadline in order to maximize your chances of participating.

CSU Research Competition for students

Participating in the CSU research competition at the university level is an excellent way to gain experience communicating your research at conferences and symposia and to enhance your resume or curriculum vitae. This year San Francisco State University will host the campus-level competition from Monday, February 24th to Friday, February 28, 2025. The event will be virtual.

The Dean of Graduate Studies at San Francisco State University selects up to ten campus winners to compete in the 39th Annual Student Research Competition. The competition recognizes outstanding accomplishments of student researchers from among all 23 CSU campuses and will be held in-person.
